Cutting the wrong expectations before you buy is cheaper for both of us than a refund. Here is what this is not.
#It is not a converter for a single white-light capture
It reads three narrowband exposures. If you have one shot of a negative on a white light table, this software has nothing to separate — the separating is done by the light, not afterwards by the maths. Other tools do the single-capture job and do it well; this is a different input.
#It has one calibrated light source
Exactly one entry: scanlight-v4, at 665 / 525 / 450 nm. On a different light the colour will land somewhere else, and I cannot tell you where until I have measured it. If you have a rig, post it in Rigs and we work it out together — but do not buy on the assumption that yours is already in there. It is not.
#It exports three formats
NEGATIVE, TIFF and JPEG. That is the list. The negative carries no colour profile, by design.
#It is not a photo editor
There is no library, no local adjustment, no retouching brush. It takes a roll from separations to a finished scan and hands you a file. What happens after that is your editor's job.
#What it does not promise
- That any particular camera or lamp will match. That is measured, per rig, or it is not claimed.
- That a badly exposed frame becomes a good one. Colour here is a measurement of your equipment; measurement does not invent information that the exposure did not record.
- That your first roll will be right. It probably will not be — see Your first roll for the five reasons why.
#Platforms
macOS 14 or later, universal. Windows 10 22H2 or later, x64.
Note
The trial runs seven days or fifteen rolls, whichever ends first, with everything switched on and no account or card needed. That is deliberately enough to find out whether your rig works before any money moves.
